Newborn Must-Haves & Essentials
We are getting so close to the big day of meeting our little one. I cannot believe that I’m already 33 weeks pregnant. It’s beyond crazy to me that in 48 days (more or less) we will have our little guy here with us. I can’t explain how excited I am. I have finally been gathering up all of the necessities I think we will need and love.I have read blog after blog and watched YouTube video after video, searching far and wide for the essentials that we will actually need.
I have compiled a list of my top 5 newborn must-haves that I think we will be getting a lot of use out of. Please remember that this is my first baby, so I will keep you guys updated on what we actually used. If you would like to see the whole list of must-haves, you can head over to my YouTube channel and watch my Newborn Must-Haves Haul.
I’m a big advocate of swaddling your baby. I have done so much research on different types of swaddles and have asked other mama’s what their favorite swaddles have been. Everyone that I have asked has basically narrowed it down to muslin swaddles and velcro/zip swaddles. I decided to be safe and try both. I decided mainly on muslin swaddles, because I figure if all else fails, the tried and true traditional swaddles will always work. These adorable swaddles are from Target.
I received the Ollie Swaddle compliments of the Ollie World that I am super excited to try out. It is made from custom moisture-wicking material to reduce the risk of overheating, you can customize it to fit the size of your baby, and has easy access for those late night diaper changes. I wanted to try out a few different types of swaddles to see what works best for us before I go crazy and purchase more than what I actually need.
From the research I’ve done, I’ve come to the conclusion that some type of lounger is going to be essential. There are three different types of loungers I want to touch on.
Now, I didn’t get the actual Boppy Lounger, but I did invest in the regular Boppy Pillow. I know this will come in handy not only for breast feeding, but it will be awesome when the baby starts sitting by himself and also for tummy time. You can get the Boppy cover here.
I am most excited about the DockATot. I have heard nothing but good things, and I am sure baby is going to love it. I received the DockATot Deluxe from DockATot in the print ‘Banana’s For You’. Because I plan on breastfeeding, I think it will come in handy for the nights that we end up co-sleeping. Also, I do work from home so I know that I can put him in it next to me to lounge around and nap. The DockATot has been test for breath-ability and is all natural 100% so I know it will be extremely comfy for my little man. You can get $10 off of yours by clicking here.
I’m not really sure if these are considered loungers, but that’s what I’m going to categorize them as. I know that having a bouncer and swing is going to be essential during the day time in our household. Like I said, I do work from home, so having a bouncer/swing to rock baby while I get some work in is going to be essential. I was gifted both swing and bouncer from my sister-in-law after my niece grew out of them.
I already know that going out into public with an infant is going to be nerve-wrecking and scary for me for the first few outings. If I can prepare my self in any way, I know it’ll be by having the right gear with me. I have heard great things about car seat covers that can be used as nursing covers as well. I purchased mine from Canopy Couture. They usually have great sales going on, so I would recommend checking them out! I have also heard great things about Milk-Snob covers as well. Having my baby covered, especially for the first few weeks/months, is important to me.
I also am extremely excited to try out the Binxy Baby Shopping Cart Hammock as well. I’m assuming that my first outing will most likely be to the grocery store, so I know this will be perfect for me and my lifestyle. With the Binxy Baby, I don’t have to worry about lugging the car-seat on my arm while I’m pushing the grocery cart. I can either put the car-seat in the hammock, or I can lay the baby down in the hammock when he gets a little bit older. The Binxy Baby can hold support up to 50 pounds and is safe for babies to lay in until they are ready to sit up on their own.
I’m sure this is a pretty obvious must-have. I plan on having baby boy in mainly just onsies the first part of his life. I’m more worried about his comfort than I am his cute outfits, even though I’ve found some adorable onsies! I received both of these onsises completely free in the Amazon Welcome Box for completing my registry.
This is also a no-brainer when it comes to newborn essentials. I have the Even-Flo Sibby Travel System. I am absolutely in love with it. The car-seat is light weight which is perfect for me and the stroller has so many cool features that will come in handy from walking the baby weight off, to growing with us in the future.
