How To Keep Faith
When It Doesn’t Feel Like God Hears You
First of all, I just want you to know that GOD HEARS YOU. He hears you! God will always love you and will never forsake you.
Sometimes when life gets rough and you pray and pray and pray it seems like nothing is happening. You think “God, do you hear me?!” I am here to tell you, He does.
Some days it can seem hard to keep your faith in the Lord when things just don’t seem to be going your way. But, in Psalm 37:5 it tells you to “Commit your ways to the Lord. Trust in Him, and He will act” and in Jeremiah 29:11 it tells us that God promises this: “For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
God has your best interest in mind and you have to remember that. On those days when it feels like God doesn’t hear you, you have to dig deep.
I know this sounds counterproductive because you already feel like He’s not hearing you, but part of keeping Faith in the Lord is digging deep even when you don’t feel like it, because that’s when it means the most and will make the biggest impact. Pray about your concerns. Tell God how you feel. But, remember to listen when you are praying. The Holy Spirit that we all have within us will come through and talk to you. You have to open your heart and open your mind to what God is telling you.
Read your Bible
One thing that helps me when I’m struggling in my faith is to get out my Bible and read a few inspiring verses or an inspiring story. One of my favorite books to turn back to in the Bible is the book of Ruth. Ruth kept her faith and continued to work hard in the fields to provide for her and Naomi (her mother-in-law to deceased husband). During this time, she met Boaz, who owned all of the land she was working on and ended up marrying him and prospering abundantly. Ruth never saw this coming which is something so amazing about this story. It’s just a reminder to keep your faith and keep working hard and God will keep his promises.
I know this can be hard, but patience is truly a virtue. Sometimes things that we pray for are not a part of God’s plan for us right now. He may be protecting you from something that you don’t see yet. He may be leading you to a different path that you don’t understand yet, but no matter what God is working for your good. The best thing to do is to be still and be patient. Truly give all of your problems to God and He will take them from you.
