Five Things You Need to Know
About Being A Christian
Your life will never be the same
Once you except God into your heart, your life will change dramatically (for the better, of course). Your mind, body, and soul will be filled with a new kind of love you could never fathom before. The old you, the negative you, the lost you- that will all be left in the past. God has a new future for you.
“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come” -2 Corinthians 5:17
You will look at every situation differently
The way you react to certain situations, the way you talk to people, and think about others will be so much different than before. When God breathes life into you, you will see things in a much different, more positive light. You will not want to walk in darkness anymore. You will start to notice the evil in even the smallest things of the world that you might not have noticed before. Once you give your life to Christ you will see the light and want to be the light.
“This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” – 1 John 1:5-9
Life will still get hard
I think one of the biggest misconceptions that people have about Christians is that we have it all together and that life is easy for us. I hate to break it to you, but being a Christian is hard work. God will put you through trials and tribulations that will break your heart and seem impossible to get through. I am here to tell you, you will get through it. You now have God on your side, and though the walk might be hard, it will be worth it. You can do ALL things through CHRIST who will give you strength.
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”- Philippians 4:13
The devil will work even hardeR
There’s nothing more appetizing to the devil than a devoted Christian. When you start changing your life for the better, the devil will start working harder. You will have to constantly fight that inner voice telling you to do anything other than what is good, but God will be there to defend you. Dig deep into God’s love and the devil will never have a strong hold over you again.
“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” –James 4:7
It will all be worth it
There is nothing more rewarding than God’s love. Once I fully accepted Christ into my heart, my life changed forever. Don’t get me wrong, I still have hard days/weeks/months and I still face plenty of trials in life, but God is so much bigger than all of that and every single day now has purpose and I have someone on my side to get me through all of it.
“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose”- Romans 8:28
