30 Week Pregnancy Update
Welcome to my 30 week pregnancy update, where no pants and over-sized t-shirts are the only form of survival.
It’s hard to believe I’m already in the third trimester. This pregnancy has honestly flown by!
The last update I did was at 20 weeks. I mentioned that we had another week until we found out what we were having. Well, the verdict is in: IT’S A BOY! We could not be more excited. Derek definitely was hoping for a little girl, but I think deep down we both knew it was a boy. He is super excited to have a mini-me and I’m looking forward to having my momma’s boy.
I think it’s safe to say baby has made his appearance. I’m looking very large and in charge these days with the belly. Although I know I’ve gained some weight in the hips and legs, I’ve had a mostly belly pregnancy.
In terms of gaining weight, I’ve gained a few more than I would have liked to in my second trimester. My weight gain has definitely slowed down in the third trimester to about a pound a week. After discussing with my doctor, he said the weight gain in the second trimester could have been a lot of water retention. It could have also been the fact that I wasn’t being aware of what I was putting into my body. When I saw how much I had gained between my 20 week and 25 week appointments, I really started to pay more attention to how much food and the types of food I was putting into my body.
I’ve had to invest in more maternity pants and t-shirt dresses too. The belly band with tight pants were getting really uncomfortable. I mentioned last update that I was getting stretch marks. That is still the case. It’s definitely been one of my biggest insecurities, but I know they will fade eventually.
I never thought I’d say I miss my small boobs, but I miss my small boobs. I feel for all the women who have always had a larger chest, because boobs are so heavy and uncomfortable.
I’m itching to get back to my original workout routine and start to get my body back.
Symptoms and Side Effects
Sickness: I haven’t had any sickness between weeks 20 and 30. I’ve had a few headaches here and there, but nothing serious or debilitating.
Cravings: I haven’t really had too many cravings. I’m still loving iced lemon water. I also really love lemonade. Ice cream has been something I’ve wanted this whole pregnancy, but that’s nothing new to my non-prego self. Week 29 I was craving Oreo’s and Oreo ice cream., but other than that I can’t recall any cravings.
Emotions: My emotions have been pretty stable lately. I have mostly good days and am usually pretty happy. I do get annoyed easily, and cry over American Idol, but nothing out of the ordinary. 😉
Movement: The kicks are in full effect. Baby boy has been movin’ and groovin’. My hubby can feel him now and we can both see him move which is really cool and exciting! I love feeling him move and getting the reassurance that he’s okay in there.
Decor: The nursery is slowly but surely coming together. We have most of our furniture set up and just have a few pieces of decor left to put up.
Names: We are going to keep the name private until he is here and have a name reveal!
Birth Plan: My birth plan is still pretty much the same. The thought of my lower half being completely numb from an epidural kind of freaks me out, so I’m leaning on the side of a natural birth. But, the contraction pain may very well change my mind, so I’m not completely opposed to an epidural.
